From Light to Sound: Reduction by Octaves

Since human hearing is limited to frequencies between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz, luminous frequencies must be reduced through divisions by powers of 2 (octaves) to make them audible:

\[ f_{\text{sound}} = \frac{f_{\text{light}}}{2^n} \]

Applying n = 40 to blue (475 nm), we obtain approximately 574 Hz, corresponding to a D5 note in 432 Hz tuning. This process, known as octave reduction, connects light to sound, allowing the exploration of multisensory resonances.

In quantum physics, this interaction reflects the analogy between photons (light particles) and phonons (quantum quanta of sound vibrations), which can entangle in molecular systems.
